Daniel C. Martin, DDS

Dr. Dan Martin was born in Walnut Creek and has never strayed far from his birthplace, except in attempts to run every whitewater river in the United States. Eventually becoming a serious outdoor person and devoted tree-hugger, Dr. Martin attended U.C. Davis while spending his summers as a river guide and winters on the ski team. Between time on the mountains and rivers, he devoted time to learning biology and became a researcher in epidemiology studying smoking impacts on large populations. In 1997 he graduated with high honors with a B.S. in biology.
Dr. Martin took his new found education and worked as an itinerant river guide and ski patroller for the following 5 years, netting him many harrowing adventures and ultimately, the love of his life -- Sonja. Eventually deciding it was time to get a real job, Dr. Martin pursued an early interest in medicine and dentisrty and attended the Arthur A. Dugoni (Univ of the Pacific) School of Dentistry. While in Dental School he was active in nearly everything: research, community outreach, leadership, etc. Eventually he had the honor of senior class president and earned recognition with many awards including the Dean's scholarship, CDA scholarship, and in 2005 graduated with honors.
During dental school Dr. Martin became enchanted with the challenge and learning opportunities in oral and maxillofacial surgery and was accepted into the Highland Hospital residency program. Dr. Martin sharpened his skills in the broad scope of oral surgery including dental implant treatment, anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, pathology, maxillofacial injuries, jaw corrective surgery, and TMJ surgery and management. While his professional life was growing, his personal life was blossoming. In residency Dr. Martin married the love of his life, Sonja, and had two children, Donovan and Grayson.
Dr. Dan Martin's dream of living and serving Tahoe came true after graduation and moving to Truckee. Dr. Martin looks forward to raising his family, playing outside, and growing his practice in the years to come.
