Frequently Asked Questions

Determining the cost of our services, such as wisdom teeth extraction and dental implant surgery, is a personalized process, as each patient's oral health needs and circumstances are unique. A standard cost doesn't exist due to these variances, making it challenging to quote an exact price without a thorough examination and consultation.

Our priority is ensuring your treatment plan is tailor-made to meet your needs. This entails a comprehensive evaluation, an understanding of your dental history, current oral health status, and ultimate goals. Based on these factors, we devise a treatment plan that best serves your oral health and aligns with your financial circumstances.

Our fee schedule is established based on careful research and is guided by the standard fee guidelines set by oral surgeons nationwide. We aim to maintain a delicate balance between competitive pricing and providing top-quality oral healthcare services.

To help patients manage the cost of their treatments, we offer a range of payment options and can discuss insurance coverage during the consultation. It's important to remember that investing in your oral health is investing in your overall well-being.

Here is a snapshot of some of the instructions we provide at Tahoe Oral Surgery:

Before Anesthesia

Before undergoing anesthesia, patients must abstain from eating, wear comfortable clothing, and make transportation arrangements.

After Dental Implant Surgery

After dental implant surgery, we recommend limiting physical activities until fully healed and practicing good oral hygiene to prevent infection.

After a Tooth Extraction

After a tooth extraction, we recommend eating a soft diet, avoiding smoking or using a straw, and keeping the extraction site clean to prevent infection and dry socket.

Aftercare for Exposure of an Impacted Tooth

Aftercare for exposure of an impacted tooth helps patients address pain management, control swelling, and practice good oral hygiene.

To ensure a full recovery, pre- and post-operative meetings with your oral surgeon are important so we can best address your needs.

Here are some common tips.

Practice Proper Oral Hygiene

Maintaining proper oral hygiene is crucial to your recovery after dental implant surgery. Gently brush your teeth, cleaning the area around the implant site. Use an antimicrobial mouthwash to prevent infection and promote healing.

Rest and Avoid Strenuous Activity

Ensure you get plenty of rest post-surgery, as your body needs time to heal. Avoid strenuous activities or exercises for a few days following your surgery, as these can lead to unnecessary swelling or bleeding.

Eat a Healthy, Soft Diet

In the initial stages of recovery, it's best to stick to a diet of soft foods and plenty of liquids. Avoid hot foods and beverages and hard or crunchy foods that could damage the implant site.

Use a Cold Compress

To help manage swelling, use a cold compress on the cheek area adjacent to the implant site. Apply the cold compress at 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off.

Follow Up with Your Oral Surgeon

Ensure you attend all scheduled follow-up appointments so your oral surgeon or dentist can monitor your progress and address potential complications early. Regular checkups are essential to ensure the long-term success of your dental implant.

Contact Tahoe Oral Surgery for more information or to book a consultation with Dr. Martin or Dr. Appelblatt.

Your initial appointment is fundamental to understanding your unique oral health situation. Dr. Martin and Dr. Appelblatt's primary goal during this visit is to fully understand your oral health and the issues you are facing.

A Consultation with Our Oral Surgeons in Tahoe

We first thoroughly assess your case, and you will then have a consultation with Dr. Martin or Dr. Appelblatt, during which they'll discuss the diagnosis. They will also review all potential treatment options based on your unique needs and goals, and they will create a personalized treatment plan. Our oral surgeons emphasize maintaining open communication with you, ensuring that you feel informed and confident about your treatment plan.

Scheduling Your Treatment

While there are instances where surgery can be performed on the same day as the consultation, it's more common to schedule a separate appointment for the procedure. After carefully reviewing your case and discussing your options, we will provide you with a customized treatment plan and schedule your treatment.

An oral and maxillofacial surgeon is an internationally recognized dentistry specialty specializing in treating diseases, injuries, and defects to the mouth and facial structures. Oral surgeons complete four years of dental school followed by 4-6 years of additional training in a hospital-based surgical residency.

Education and Training

In residency, they gain vast experience with dental implant surgery, removal of teeth, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, pathology, anesthesia, and treatment of medically–complex patients. Patients are typically referred to oral surgeons by their general dentist when they require treatment outside their dentist's standard scope of care.

Referrals

Oral surgeons are often referred to for extractions, dental implants, biopsies, bone grafts, and pathology. They are also referred to patients with significant anxiety, as they can provide sedation.

Sedation Services

At Tahoe Oral Surgery, our oral surgeons treat patients with significant anxiety surrounding dental procedures. Since Dr. Martin and Dr. Appelblatt are certified to administer sedation within their oral surgery offices, they provide a safe and comforting environment for these apprehensive patients, easing their fears and ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience.
